Apple Takes Top Spot in Global Wearables Market: Report

Apple Watch shipments grew 13.5 percent over the previous year as the launch of a cellular-connected Watch entered additional markets even as the wearable device shipments slowed down.

With four million shipments in the first quarter of 2018, Apple has become the leader in the global wearables market, according to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker. Apple Watch shipments grew 13.5 per cent over the previous year as the launch of a cellular-connected Watch entered additional markets even as the wearable device shipments slowed down, the report said on Monday.

The iPhone market's growth has also outpaced the entire wearables market allowing the company to increase its share from 14.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2017 to 16.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2018. "Worldwide shipments of wearable devices grew 1.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2018 as shipments reached 25.1 million units," IDC said in a statement.

The growth was far lower than the 18 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth one year ago largely due to the 9.2 per cent decline in shipments of basic wearables. During the same period, smart wearables by Apple, Fitbit and numerous fashion brands grew 28.4 per cent as consumer preferences continued to shift towards smarter devices," according to the statement.

Xiaomi grabbed the second position with 14.8 percent share of unit shipments. "However, with the lowest average selling price (ASP) among the top five companies, Xiaomi was only able to capture 1.8 percent of the dollar value of the market during this quarter," the company added. Wearables maker Fitbit ranked third during this quarter, despite a decline of 28.1 percent.

Chinese company Huawei managed to capture the fourth position during this quarter with 1.3 million shipments and five percent market share, followed by Garmin with 1.3 million shipments and five percent market share.

Tinder Lite will arrive in Vietnam in the ‘coming weeks’

A smaller app that requires less data image source:- theVarge Tinder has already publicized its plans to expand around the world, specifically in Asia, but today, it’s taking the next logical step in that journey and introducing a smaller version of its Android app — called Tinder Lite. The app is 25 times smaller than the main app, and while it maintains the core functionality, like swiping, it nixes more data-heavy ones, like the Feed. The idea is that Tinder Lite is faster, requires less battery life, and reduces data usage. For now, Tinder Lite users can’t upgrade to a Tinder Plus or Gold subscription within the app, but the company says it plans to do so over time. (A critical feature for making money off users, of course.) The app will be available through Google Play in Vietnam in the “coming weeks” and will subsequently come to other areas in Southeast Asia and South America. As is typically the case with the lighter versions of apps, users can use the same acc...

Samsung's new triple-camera setup on the  Galaxy S10   and   S10+   is undoubtedly one of the key selling points of handsets and it appears that DxOMark thinks so as well. The overall score is 109, which matches the   Mate 20 Pro   and the   P20 Pro . And interestingly enough, the  Galaxy S10+ 's photo and video scores are 114 and 98, respectively, which are also the Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro's camera scores. However, the Galaxy S10+ excels in the selfie department. In fact, according to DxOMark's selfie ranking, the Galaxy S10+ takes the lead with the Note9 following closely behind along with the  Pixel 3 . Back to the Galaxy S10+'s camera quality. The phone appears to have wide dynamic range, good exposure, accurate color reproduction and convincing bokeh simulation. The video recording capabilities are also outstanding with the smooth framing and image stabilization standing out the most. Of course, nothing is perfect so DxOMark ...

In  Bengaluru you can never leave the clutch, and you’ll have this wrist pain. You have zero storage space. With electric  we hope to resolve some of that, you won’t need the clutch, hopefully we’ll be able to build storage space. Half our  company wanted to build a bike, but we built a scooter.
